This is the first year we dedicated a full day to this inspirational conference and lined up some incredible speakers. This insightful and interactive conference gave delegates the opportunity to listen to and speak with leading female surgeons regarding not only their professional lives but also personal.
Line up for the day: Professor Hazel Scott - University of Liverpool Medical School Dean of Medicine Professor Averil Mansfield – First British female Professor of Surgery, Former BMA President and founder of WinS Mrs Alison Lannigan – Vice President of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow with interest in surgical education and training Miss Claire Murphy – Consultant Breast Surgeon with interest in flexible working Miss Tamara Kiernan – Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon Miss Sara Dorman – Orthopaedic Registrar Miss Sumita Chhabra – Paediatric Surgery Registrar We also had an inspirational talk from our Charity of choice, Freedom for Fistula and a bake sale and raffle to raise proceeds for this! |

Foundation Trauma Skills Workshop for Medical Students
Thanks to hard work of our Treasurer, Sam Smith and our Honorary members Mr John Taylor and Mr Ajay Sharma, we held a hugely fun and educational full day trauma course.
The day included: -Short lecture on emergency management key points -Tracheotomy -Cricothyroidectomy -Chest drain -Venous cutdown -Lung stapling and suturing -Basic suturing and knot tying |
Christmas Market Stall
Surgery is all about the fun of doing something practical! So we wanted to show the wider University what being a surgeon is all about! We joined the Christmas Market, organised by the University Craft Society to host a laparoscopic simulator game stall!
Only one person was skilled enough to win the grand prize - a coveted Surgical Scousers thermal mug. |
